Laurie's cj for Feb 2009 calendar girlz

this was just colorful fun. i just kept adding stuff until i thought it was done. i like the playful spring feel it has.

Laurie's cj for Feb 2009 calendar girlz

this one got really cut off and i don't remember taking the picture that way.

i tried a new product on this page: Golden's crackle paste. apparently i did not put it on as thickly as i should have because i only got about three cracks. but it does look like it could be a gallery wall.

these are some of my teesha and tracy moore zetti stamps. i love their style. i believe these are all tracy's designs, but i could be mistaken.

Laurie's cj for Feb 2009 calendar girlz

the only largely decorated page in this particular calendar journal is very old time collagey looking. i put some different elements and items over what was printed for a more juliet feel and for a dimensional collage look. i like the way this one came out. i used paper flowers, leaf skeleton, faux postage, glitter glue, and souffle pens to embellish this spread.

spread two. feeling butterflies and pale colors. this may be a bit blurry, but it is as pale as it looks here. sort of ethereal.

Laurie's cj for Feb 2009 calendar girlz

this is what i did in Laurie's nature ledger-style calendar journal. guess i was feeling pink and foofy that day, huh?

you know, i love pink. and i love ruffles. but people laugh when i say that. people who know me in real life. i am 5'10" and about 240. i wear a lot of black because it is my favorite color, but i love pink and ruffles. people don't know me as well as they think they do, i guess.

Calendar journal girlz 2009 Lisa T-M's book

this is the first page. it is a single. the january page backed up on the left side, so this one is all by itself. it does not mesh with the page Lisa did as her last january page, but for myself, i want people to use their own style in my book, not to try to make their work look like mine, so following that wisdom, that is what i did.

i painted the page gray and then wadded up some wax paper and dipped it in some black paint and pounced it on the page. i really really like this page.

it is always nice when i end up liking what i did in someone else's book.

it is also always nice when i document the work i have done at the time i get it done rather than only posting once every three or four months and not being able to remember whose book the work is in or anything else about the work.

the right side of the woodblock prints spread. i had these rubber stamps from stampin' up and have used them a couple of times. i embossed the designs with black detail powder and then water colored the pictures. i like these a lot. soft, clean, calming...

Lisa T-M's book

i don't know why, but the second thing i did when i got this book to work in was to paint two spreads black. it just seemed like the thing to do. i am happy with the decision, i am just not sure where it came from. this is the left side of the serenity and woodblock prints spread.

left side of the origami crane spread. i love this side of the spread. i chose a good color for the crane and am happy with it.

Lisa T-M's book

i did an actual folded crane in origami on the first page and this picture of one layered on velum over the instructions for folding your own. kinda plain, but i really had trouble with this one. i loved the idea of having the instructions here, but had a load (three days worth) of trouble coming up with a way to make it a bit less stark. it still doesn't go with the left side page, but i still like the idea. hope she does, too.

Lisa T-M's book

left side page of final spread in the book. i made a copy of a koi fish drawing on acetate and cut around the top and made a pocket to hold the sign-in tags Lisa asked us to decorate. i layered it over silver glitter sticker paper and it really sparked up the fish! like this a lot.

final page in the february cj. are chopsticks japanese? chinese? or both? ahh well, they seem asian to me and so i have used this particular motif a few times. i love O magazine. i find lots of items that i can use in my cj endeavours.

celina's very late xmas present

this is what i ended up doing for celina for xmas. the base is an art board and then it had some plaster from stephanie lee's totally plastered class from art unraveled last august. then i played with the paints. i like that it is messy. then i added the hearts and words. as previously mentioned, my camera sucks. so imagine black and white and bright vibrant colors on the rectangles. sheesh. i love this and will probably have to duplicate it for myself one of these days.

right side of another two page spread. the houses are inspired by the same artful blogging magazine. i love houses. i have used them in one variation or another in many spreads. this picture was not taken in black and white, it is black and white and silver. love that corrugated paper on the right.

left side of the spread. more of the images from the trader joe's bag. i sure wish the nearest trader joe's was not 85 miles away! and not only for the bags i can cut apart for art!
