Gina's Ireland cj for April 2009

first page. Lisa leaves all the days in my calendar month for me to work on and that means i get to put my art on the same page as some of hers. it is hard to decide if i should make it blend with hers and confuse people about whose art it is or if i should just do my own thing. i did my own thing here. playing with scraps and bits i have saved over the last who knows how long. the main background is the inside of a security envelope. the tag in the top is a flap from my current favorite Tazo tea, berryblossom white. if you have not had a cup of this, get you to starbucks and order a cup. yummy. i drink mine plain, but you can jazz yours up if you want to. the rectangular piece is a boarding pass from a flight i took a couple years ago. who knew that it would turn black when hit with a heat gun to set the white ink i used for the words? live and learn.

spread one, page one. just a green lady of the lake surveying her territory for monsters or polluters or boaters going too fast. the beaded fringe along the bottom was not put in by me, but it sure looks nice on my page, doesn't it? thanks to whoever put it on her pages!

page 2, spread 2 cats and birds, whiskers and feathers. for this spread i cut the shapes out of contact paper, stuck them on the pages, painted over them with gesso on the previous page and acrylic paint on this page and went on from there. it was one of those ideas that just seemed to come out of nowhere as the thing to try. i had no idea where i was going to go with it when i started. also, i have something i got years ago called 'the big box of art' which is like 14 disks of pictures of stuff. the cat here and nessie on the next spread came from there as the result of a search for 'celtic'. fun stuff if you can find a copy.

this was just colorful fun. i just kept adding stuff until i thought it was done. i like the playful spring feel it has.

Laurie's cj for Feb 2009 calendar girlz

this one got really cut off and i don't remember taking the picture that way.

i tried a new product on this page: Golden's crackle paste. apparently i did not put it on as thickly as i should have because i only got about three cracks. but it does look like it could be a gallery wall.

these are some of my teesha and tracy moore zetti stamps. i love their style. i believe these are all tracy's designs, but i could be mistaken.

the only largely decorated page in this particular calendar journal is very old time collagey looking. i put some different elements and items over what was printed for a more juliet feel and for a dimensional collage look. i like the way this one came out. i used paper flowers, leaf skeleton, faux postage, glitter glue, and souffle pens to embellish this spread.

spread two. feeling butterflies and pale colors. this may be a bit blurry, but it is as pale as it looks here. sort of ethereal.

this is what i did in Laurie's nature ledger-style calendar journal. guess i was feeling pink and foofy that day, huh?

you know, i love pink. and i love ruffles. but people laugh when i say that. people who know me in real life. i am 5'10" and about 240. i wear a lot of black because it is my favorite color, but i love pink and ruffles. people don't know me as well as they think they do, i guess.
